This is an original 1872 halftone print of the Halls of Justice or Tombs on Centre Street in New York City. Designed by John Haviland, it was built in 1838. The infamous "Tombs" housed the city's courts, police, and detention facilities. It was replaced with a new building in 1902. (Please note that there is printing on the reverse.)
